In massive groups, however, they can be incredibly dangerous. Small colonies of Poofspores resemble formless blobs that ooze around, extending tentacles across the ground. Larger colonies, which resemble giants armed with a pair of whip-like tentacle arms used to [[Blunt force|crush]] [[Pikmin family|Pikmin]], serve as minibosses in the [[Woods of Occlusion]] and the [[Defiled Grounds]]. These colonies are held together by a larger, red, Queen Poofspore that generates new Poofspores to replace those that have scattered away or were destroyed in combat. Any part of a Poofspore colony except the queen, which serves as the colony's weak spot, will [[poison]] Pikmin on contact. When its queen is attacked, pieces of a Poofspore colony will scatter, trying to attack Pikmin, but quickly dissipate into nothingness shortly after.
