The Midnight Cannon Beetle Larva, or simply the Midnight Cannon Larva, is a species of lithopod appearing in Pikmin: Spark. Their adult form is the Midnight Cannon Beetle. They get their name from the deep purple-and-blue hue they have upon hatching, giving them a coloration most similar to the night sky of PNF-404. They gain this distinctive hue due to their diet of poisonous and inedible matter, which their digestive systems process. Rather than proper boulders, they shoot balls of toxic mud, which leave a trail of sludge in their wake. This sludge not only slows captains but also poisons anything else that steps in it. Fortunately, White Pikmin can neutralize the sludge and are immune to the main attack of the larvae, making them ideal Pikmin species to take these creatures on.
