The Leafcutter Sheargrub is an omnivorous Mandiblard that're only found in the Painted Pines of the Fleeting Forest in Pikmin Z.

Biology

  • Diet: leaves, Skitterlings, Pikmin
  • Predators: All carnivores

The Leafcutter Sheargrub is much of the same way to a typical Male Sheargrub, and about the same size as well, but with the exception of brownish skin, and a leaf-like body structure on its back, evolved from wings as a camouflage much like a Skitter Leaf. Leafcutter Sheargrubs are typically found in groups, and when not much meat is around, will change their diet and eat on dead leaves instead. Unlike other Sheargrubs, it doesn't burrow underground, but instead lays dormant and camouflages itself to resemble a leaf.

Piklopedia Entry

The Leafcutter Sheargrub is an interesting bug. Evolving from the Shearwig, this Sheargrub's life and strategy in hunting resembles that more of a Skitterling than a Sheargrub: lying in wait, disguised as a leaf until prey draws close, or staying still as a disguise to predators. A prime example of Convergent Evolution.

Strategy

Leafcutter Sheargrubs are often found in groups when discovered, though they are relatively weak, so swarming or throwing a Pikmin on top of one will make it easy to beat.
