The Poison Breadbug is a species of Breadbug that should only be fought with White Pikmin. It looks similar to a normal Breadbug, but its body is pale purple with white eyes and pupils. As it wanders around, it leaves a trail of white poison powder. At a quarter of its health, the Poison Breadbug will intentionally scatter poison powder on any Pikmin it finds, excluding White Pikmin, which it attempts to stay far from. This can be used as a technique to prevent any bored Pikmin from being poisoned. When defeated, the Poison Breadbug succumbs as a normal Breadbug would, although still covered in the poison powder. This means that the corpse of the Poison Breadbug must be carried by White Pikmin. Poison Breadbugs will not hesitate to enter and temporarily contaminate any pool of water. If a Poison Breadbug enters and exits water that completely submerges them, they will fortunately no longer pose any threat to any non-White Pikmin. Unfortunately, that body of water will be contaminated for a long period of time, up to half of the day. When a Poison Breadbug enters shallow water, that pool of water will be contaminated with poison until the Poison Breadbug exits the water and the water becomes clear again, which may range from immediately after it exits to a quarter of the day. Neither Blue Pikmin nor White Pikmin can enter contaminated water without being harmed. When no longer coated in poison, the Poison Breadbug's body will be a slightly darker shade of purple, and shinier too. Captain Olimar may assist in carrying the corpse of a deceased Poison Breadbug, covered in toxic powder or not.
