The Gluppy is a species from a family of the same name appearing in Pikmin Evolution. They resemble guppies, small fish, though the Gluppy also have pronounced cheeks and rounded chins. The most notable design trait of the Gluppy is the fact that while usually small and pale, a few Gluppies are slightly larger and come in multiple different colors. Gluppies are aquatic in nature, dwelling exclusively in water, acting mainly as background enemies to give further life to the area. Gluppies are completely harmless; they can't attack anything, or have any potent defenses, being nothing more than herbivores that consume patches of algae and moss. Gluppies don't like conflict; in fact, they will swim away if any Kelp Pikmin come near, while also fleeing from other predators like the Water Dumple or Hermit Crawmad, who will try to consume any that come near them. Gluppies have very little health, on par with a Wogpole, and will try to shake off anything trying to attack it. Due to a complete lack of any defenses, they are very easy to take down, but in the case of the colored Gluppies, you should target the heads. This is because their gullets contain fluids that when struck get spit out as congealed substance. These substances resemble the appearance and properties of syrups or nectar, allowing your captains to collect the substances easier. The color of the Gluppies match the color of the substances they hold, so basic knowledge of what each substance looks like normally can help you find the Gluppy you want. Some Gluppies have been found in hidden lakes as a way to provide captains with new syrups and nectar in the middle of a daunting complex via a rest floor. Overall, while primarily a decorative enemy, Gluppies are also greatly helpful if you're in the need of syrups or nectar.

Notes

Ivy's journal

Gluppies are among the most prolific species of aquatic life on the planet, with a large thriving population in both freshwater and saltwater habitats. The reason for their sheer prolific populations is due to both their high birth rates compared to other fish and their ability to storing excess nutrients in their larynx and gizzard, creating a congealed substance they can digest later. This substance is highly preserved, and some scientists have been trying to replicate this behavior for the purpose of food preservation.

A very adaptable dish, one compatible with multiple flavors, can be eaten raw or fried in butter, lemon juice, or oil. The world is your Clamclamp honestly, any dish with this creature has the potential to be good.

Marvin's strategy guide

When in panic, these creatures often consume what's in their mouths, so it's best to attack the heads first to get out anything that is valuable.
