You encounter the Boulder Starsnout at the top of a tall hill, possibly made by the animal itself. The fight between you and the Starsnout is revolving around getting to the top of the hill, avoiding getting crushed by the landslides it creates. Once you make it to the top, you're able to throw your Pikmin onto it, until it shakes them off and throws your squad back to the bottom of the hill. Sometimes it will burrow underground to catch your pikmin from below, so be sure to watch where it jumps out to avoid losing any. Continue climbing the mole hill and attacking the creature until it falls.
