The Skitter Reed is a close cousin to the Skitter Leaf.

As their name suggests, a Skitter Reed is a species of Skitterling that closely resembles a Reed plant. Its lower body has turned rigid, resembling said plant, and it uses it for camouflage as it lays dormant. Unlike other Skitterlings, the Skitter Reed has only two legs, though it can still move faster than a typical Skitterling. It'll stay perfectly still, its stiff lower half-raised into the air to mimic a reed, but will panic and scatter if you venture too close.

• A species of Skitterling, Skitter Reeds mimic a semi-aquatic reed plant as its camouflage from predators. It is able to stay underwater doing this gesture, due to a number of air holes on the end of its lower body, able to breathe so long as it is above water. This camouflage method seems more effective in shallow water than on land, as it can't hide its front legs or face as well as its leaf cousin.

Strategy

The Skitter Reed is easy to defeat, as one Pikmin thrown onto it will usually finish it off with little problems. It doesn't shake off Pikmin like the Skitter Leaf but can move a lot faster.
