The Amp Bulbling is a species of grub-dog appearing in Pikmin Evolution as the juvenile form of the Boomburst Bulborb. It shares the general appearance of its adult form, being a blue-bodied bulborb with skin folds instead of spots on its back. It follows the typical behavior of dwarf bulborbs, staying in one place when alone and moving to attack anything that gets near it, but shows a hint of its adult form's musical affinity by bobbing its head to the current background music. When swarmed, it will perform its signature attack, producing a powerful sonic pulse, pushing back all nearby Pikmin a great distance, often into a nearby abyss. Pikmin that do survive are temporarily incapacitated and are helpless against the Bulbling until they recover. Not even Alloy Pikmin can withstand the force. To make matters worse, when a Boomburst Bulborb comes near, the Amp Bulblings will trail behind it and assist it in its attacks. As the Boomburst Bulborb beatboxes, the Bulblings will screech in tune to it, and when the Bulborb takes a step, the Bulblings step with it in unison. When the Bulborb finishes, the Bulblings perform their sonic pulse attack, scattering Pikmin even further away than they would alone.
Both the juveniles and adults share the same weakness, that being their crippling weakness to electricity. However, the Bulbling has a particularly unique interaction to it: when in contact with electricity, the Amp Bulbling will create a sonic pulse charged with many volts of electricity. This pulse stuns any enemy in its range, and other Amp Bulblings affected by it echo it, causing a chain reaction of electrical chaos. As a result, with even one dose of yellow syrup, an entire generation of Amp Bulblings and Boomburst Bulborbs can be defeated with the power of sound itself, and legendary feat if executed.
