The Ghastly Progg is a species of shepik in Pikmin Evolution. It appears exclusively as a raid boss alongside the other members of its family. The Ghastly Progg and Smoky Progg are nearly identical in appearance, however, while the Smoky Progg is olive green in color with light purple eyes, the Ghastly Progg is cobalt blue with golden eyes. The Ghastly Progg is highly dangerous as unlike most enemies; it can phase through walls of settlements, essentially making even the most durable of barriers useless against it. It can do this by making its body intangible, which also causes any attacking Pikmin to harmlessly pass through it. On top of this difficult defensive ability to work around, the Ghastly Progg also has the ability to become invisible to both the naked eye and to the map's radar, making it even harder to properly track. For all these defensive abilities, though, the Ghastly Progg lacks traditional offenses, but that doesn't mean it's not dangerous.

One of the oddest abilities of the Ghastly Progg is its ability to become simultaneously intangible and physical, which is shown when the progg only becomes partially visible. In this state, anything that crosses it will instantly disintegrate and perish, whether that is an enemy or Pikmin. This makes the Ghastly Progg extremely difficult to take down, but it is not unkillable, especially by attacks from Wisp Pikmin. The Wisp Pikmin's ability immunity to being killed by energy attacks will prove to be crucial to defeating the Ghastly Progg as they can both track it and ignore its disintegration attack. To compensate, the Wisp Pikmin's fragility means they need to be supplemented by other Pikmin types in order to do any massive damage. The optimal way to rack up damage is to lure the Progg to a vat of chemicals such as acid, as that will stun the progg and leave it vulnerable to not only Wisp Pikmin but the corrosive Germ Pikmin, making it an easy victory on the captain's part. Aside from that, all the qualities that the Ghastly Progg has make it one of the most dangerous enemies to encounter. The rewards make up for battle as the creatures will always drop a rare piece of refuse upon defeat.

Notes

Ivy's journal

The Proggs and Mamutas are among the strangest creatures on the planet due to their strange relationship with the Pikmin. Their biology, or lack thereof, prevents them from being classified under one species. Mamutas in particular are even more cryptic as so far only one adult species has been recorded, without any evidence to know which of the Proggs evolve into it. This is the type of stuff that biology is made for an I am intrigued into seeing what discoveries are found next about this fascinating species.

I a... I don't know if this is edible... I'm not risking it.

Don't touch what it there, unless if you youself can't touch, that sounds cryptic because it is.
