Obstacle

Mud gates are barriers made out of mud. The color of the mud can vary, ranging from dark brown to more beige tones, but will often match that of the surrounding earth. Most Pikmin that try to latch onto and attack the wall will slide off due to its slick muddy surface, sometimes even being buried under the mud that comes off. Only Pikmin that are resistant to earth-based hazards or can burrow underneath the wall to damage it from the inside can destroy it.

Mud walls are a type of barrier that appears in Pikmin Evolution, exclusively in the House of Gloom DLC alongside other mud-based hazards. They are made out of a thick mud that can vary in color from dark brown to dull beige but usually matches that of the surrounding dirt. Mud walls also have small, varying amounts of vegetation such as tufts of grass and patches of moss on their surfaces. The mud making up these barriers is so slick that anything that tries to latch onto it will slide off and be buried in the mud surrounding the wall, and they can only be saved by destroying the barrier that trapped them.

Mud walls are similar to other elemental walls in that they can only be destroyed by a certain type of Pikmin, in this case Swamp Pikmin, as they are able to burrow underneath the wall and destroy it from the inside. If none are available, using a fiery red syrup will dry out the wall with its intense heat, turning it into a standard dirt wall. However, be careful when doing so, as any Pikmin still trapped in the mud will be burned unless they have fire resistance. Overall, Swamp Pikmin are the safest option when destroying mud walls, so it is advised to use them over any syrups.
