In Pikmin: Revenge of the Darkfreeze, Onions will become more technologically advanced as the Pikmin living within them become more intelligent and develop a culture. The development resembles primitive tribes becoming potentially space-faring relationships.

Tier Requirements Details
1
  • N/A; initial stage.
  • Special abilities: none.
  • Pikmin will wander around the Onion aimlessly, and communicate in unintelligible noises.

  • 25 Pikmin, at least 10 flowered.
  • Pikmin will begin building primitive huts, and begin collecting clay and nectar from outside the Onion. They will create a clay bowl to store a nectar drop for five days.
  • Idle Pikmin at this level will randomly crouch, stick their hands into the ground for a moment, and pull out red clay, which they store somewhere in their bodies.

  • 100 Pikmin, at least 25 flowered.
  • Must also have at least one Stem Pikmin, Fruit Pikmin, or Master Flower Pikmin.
  • Pikmin will develop a language, which may be influenced by other Pikmin species at higher levels. Pikmin can also tame Dwarf Red Bulborbs and will develop simple tools.
  • Pikmin will create a second clay bowl, again to store nectar. They will also build better huts and make a large hut for leader Pikmin.
  • Pikmin will also create spears to attack enemies from a distance, having the same strength as Flower Pikmin. Higher maturity Pikmin can throw spears farther.

  • 250 Pikmin, at least 50 flowered.
  • Must also have 1 Stem Pikmin, 1 Fruit Pikmin, and 5 Master Flower Pikmin.
  • Pikmin build villages with a castle, learn to domesticate and farm, establish a monarchy, perfect taming Dwarf Red Bulborbs, and perfect their language.
  • Fourth-tier intelligence Pikmin may ride a small Dwarf Bulborb to battle, increasing their health and speed.
  • Pikmin also construct a nectar farm. Every night, one random leaf- or bud-maturity Pikmin is advanced to flower maturity.
  • As well, Pikmin also establish a bulborb farm, propagating one Pikmin every night.

  • 300 Pikmin, at least 75 flowered.
  • Must also have 5 Stem Pikmin, 5 Fruit Pikmin, and 10 Master Flower Pikmin.
  • Pikmin build cities with taller, more industrial buildings.
  • Fourth-tier intelligence Pikmin can ride to battle on Dwarf Bulbears, greatly increasing their health and speed.
  • Pikmin also improve their nectar farms. Every two nights, five Pikmin advance to flower maturity.
  • As well, bulborb farms are improved to propagate two to three leaf- or bud-maturity Pikmin each night.

  • 350 Pikmin, at least 100 flowered.
  • Must also have 10 Stem Pikmin, 10 Fruit Pikmin, and 20 Master Flower Pikmin.
  • Pikmin construct towers, part of the new, modern Pikmin society.
  • Sixth-tier intelligence Pikmin can mount Breadbugs, slightly boosting their stats for the day.
  • Nectar farms are improved further, flowering ten Pikmin every three nights.
  • Pikmin establish Breadbug farms, propagating five bud-maturity Pikmin every two nights.

  • 375 Pikmin at least 150 flowered.
  • Must also have 15 Stem Pikmin, 15 Fruit Pikmin, and 25 Master Flower Pikmin.
  • Pikmin now have buildings tall enough to touch cave ceilings, which are part of the even newer Pikmin society.
  • Seventh-tier intelligence Pikmin can mount large Breadbugs, significantly improving their statistics.
  • Nectar farms are improved even more, flowering fifteen Pikmin every three nights.
  • As well, breadbug farms are improved, propagating ten bud-maturity Pikmin every night.
