The Palm Tree Pine is a member of the chrysanthemum family appearing in Pikmin E: The Next Adventure. It initially appears as a palm tree but reveals its true form when approached by prey such as Pikmin or leaders, and prefers to swallow them whole instead of chewing them first. Any leaders it catches in its mouth will be chewed, suffering damage, before being spat out alongside any Pikmin in its mouth at the time.

The Palm Pine is a boss in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. At first glance, it resembles a large palm tree with a tall, brown truck and large, green leaves. Coconuts can be found at the top of the tree, which are used later on by the boss. Once approached, the boss will suddenly reveal its two eyes with white sclera and dark blue pupils. A small mouth with sharp teeth and a long tongue is also located on the front of the tree. The bottom of the palm pine is composed of very small roots, which are revealed when the boss is defeated.
The Palm Pine will use two different attacks depending on the distance of the Pikmin squad from it. If the Pikmin are close to the boss, then it will launch out its long tongue and slurp up a large amount of Pikmin. This prevents attacking the tree trunk of the boss without losing Pikmin, as well as the trunk taking minimal damage when attacked by Pikmin. If the target is farther away, however, then the Palm Pine will proceed to shake its head, dropping up to five coconuts around itself. Four of the coconuts will proceed to shake violently and glow red before detonating and releasing a small pool of milk which can drown non-Blue Pikmin. The fifth coconut, however, will remain. If ten Pikmin are sent to pick it up, they will throw it at the boss and deplete one-fourth of the boss' health, similar to the strategy of a Bi-Clawed Slag. At half-health, the boss will begin to drop ten coconuts at a time that detonate much faster than before, but still only one will remain to be thrown.
The best strategy to take out the Palm Pine is avoiding the explosive Kokonuts, and picking up the final coconut to throw at the Palm Pine. Keep distance from the giant chrysanthemum, as it can slurp up Pikmin if they get too close. Once defeated, the giant beast will suddenly lean over and slam into the ground, its entire body popping from the ground. Defeating a Palm Pine for the first time will grant the "Timber!" achievement.
In Overlord mode, not only will the coconuts leave pools of fire, but the Palm Pine will summon up to five Kokonuts at a time to aid the boss. Once the boss is killed, the Kokonuts will perish as well.

- “Quite possibly the largest chrysanthemum, the Palm Pine can grow up to hundreds of feet in height. Underground, their roots can span up to hundreds of feet as well. It seems I’ve only encountered juvenile Palm Pines, as encountering a fully mature one would quite theoretically be the largest creature I would have ever laid my eyes upon. Most researchers probably wouldn’t survive the encounter, due to its extreme aggression.”
