Pikmin 79 is the setting of the future seen in animations by YouTuber Janota, and takes place after Pikmin 4. Due to Nintendo creating the new games, time has been permanently stunted. Most of the Pikmin types were created as a joke from a video by YouTuber DazzReviews, but 9 of them gained prominence afterwards.
Background
After a Blue Pikmin is frozen by a Snowy Blowhog[1], he remains in stasis for 18,230 years until a Red Pikmin frees him with a fireball. The Blue Pikmin then is greeted by 57 new types.
Later on, Louie is seen trying to taste a Chocolate Pikmin before being attacked by a Spined, Cactus, and Tail Pikmin as well as a swarm of other new types[2].
The same Blue Pikmin eventually grows tired of the future and yearns to return to Pikmin 4, so as he observes 9 of the new types, he devises a plan to build a time machine using them.
