This page details the series of events in Pikmin Sunshine's story.
Day 1
First, the five brave explorers land on the planet PNF-404, in the Wild Woods. There, they find a cave, which leads them to a mysterious green Onion. When they get near it, it glows and flies into the sky. There, it lands on the ground and produces a Green Pikmin sprout. They pluck it, and they are then formally introduced through a cutscene. Then, the captains whistle the Green Pikmin and throw it at a 1-Pellet Posy. The Green Pikmin carries the 1-pellet to its Onion, causing it to eject two sprouts. After harvesting the pellets from three more 1-Pellet Posies and one 5-Pellet Posy, the Green Pikmin population grew to seventeen.
Once the captains leave the cave, they destroy a sand wall in the way, leading to twenty fragment bridge pieces. The bridge is comprised of forty pieces, and the remaining half is guarded by two Dwarf Red Bulborbs. They defeat the Dwarf Red Bulborbs, and now their squad consists of twenty-three Pikmin, allowing them to complete the bridge in no time.
After crossing the bridge, they find a sand wall in their way, so they destroy it. Behind it is a Sunseed Berry. The leaders have some of their Pikmin carry it, while the rest of the Pikmin destroy another sand wall in their path.
As the leaders continue exploring, they see an island inhabited by a sleeping Red Bulborb. They sneak up behind it and charge the Pikmin toward it. After its death, the Pikmin take it back to the Onion. Louie is sent to monitor the Pikmin approaching the Onion.
As they walk on and on, they find another sand wall, which they destroy. It leads to a cave where they find some Skutterchucks. As they have no Gray Pikmin, they try their best to avoid their Pikmin being crushed while fighting them off. Despite their best efforts, five Pikmin fall victim, but the rest survive. With the Red Bulborb having arrived at the Onion and the Skutterchucks close behind, they have a total of fifty Green Pikmin.
After a while, they find a Zest Bomb in a nearby cave, their second fruit today! At last, the leaders come to a stop. Louie waits for the fruit to come, and after it does, the leaders round up the Pikmin, and they and the Onion blast off into orbit.
