Postcards can be obtained through completing expeditions and mushroom challenges, but can also be sent to a player's friends. Postcards contain the photograph and name of a nearby location, usually, a point of interest that a big flower or mushroom challenge is found at. Some of the Pikmin in the player's squad will be overlaid on the photograph, in various poses. The background color of a postcard depends on how it was obtained: white postcards are obtained from expeditions and 1-star scores on mushroom challenges, while bronze, silver, and gold postcards are obtained from 2-, 3-, and 4-star scores on mushroom challenges respectively. The right side of a postcard is mostly empty for expedition postcards, but in mushroom challenge postcards it contains extra information such as the type of mushroom and the results of the mushroom challenge in stars and point totals. On the top right corner of each postcard is a stamp that can display a variety of designs, but most are of fruits.
