Robot Pikmin, also known as Grey Pikmin, are mechanical Pikmin that were made on Hocotate to serve as workers on the Pikmin Planet so that the Hocotatian government wouldn't have to go through the trouble of enslaving the Pikmin. However, when Warimar and his legion of Mushroom Pikmin arrived, the Robot Pikmin were upgraded to fight them off. Olimar acquires Robot Pikmin when he defends the capital Hocotatian Colony from Warimar. Robot Pikmin have a respective Onion, are not immune to any hazards, and have some unique behaviors; instead of fighting in close combat, they fire lasers at distant targets, and when thrown, they can hover for three seconds. Additionally, they have another special trait, and that is using special terminals in colonies, which can be used to find secrets and access more areas. Despite having an Onion, Robot Pikmin can not be propagated by any normal means, instead being purchased from the Robo-Pikmin Factory with the Pokos earned by completing challenges and missions.
