In Pikmin X: Deep Freeze, the Whirling Evaporazor is the miniboss found at the end of the Basalt Tunnels. It is a slow mover on its own because of its heavy shell weighing it down. However, this snail-like creature has a trick up its sleeve and is able to balance on either tip of its lateral horns while spinning rapidly, allowing it to move around the arena at a fast pace. As it spins, hot steam sprays out from the holes lining its shell to deter attackers; Pikmin engulfed in the steam will be completely incinerated with no chance to save them. A trail of fire is created at the point where the creature's horn meets the ground, and its long feelers are also covered in fire at the tips.
When not in twirling motion, its vulnerable underside can be attacked, but it can shoot steam directly ahead of or behind itself should Pikmin attempt to attack from the front or back. As a result, it is recommended to attack the sides of the Whirling Evaporazor by charging or swarming and then falling back once it prepares to spin around the room. Red Pikmin recommended to use against it because they do not need to worry about this beast's fiery antennae, although they can still be killed by a blast of steam.
