Wither is a hazard taking the form of a gas that weakens Pikmin, the effects worsening the longer they are exposed to it, and may even kill them. Affected Pikmin appear more feeble, slouched with dangling stems, and with less saturation, worse attack power and movement speed, and a greater chance of tripping and falling. Prolonged exposure doubles the effects, even rendering affected Pikmin vulnerable to the hazard they were once immune to and all other hazards instantly lethal to them. Withered Pikmin gradually recover from their condition as time passes, but Pikmin that drink nectar will recover instantly.

- “A strange gas, its composition unknown. The Pikmin on expositions don't seem to feel good from it... It has a weakening effect on them, but it seems nothing happened to me... I named it "wither" because I thought I wouldn't let its name as just "black gas" or "black spore".”
