The Woolyhop is a species of amphituber appearing in Pikmin Evolution. It is a close relative of the more aquatic Chillyhop as they are both snow-dwelling wollywogs. However, while the Chillyhop focuses on secreting a chilling solution over its body, the Woolyhop, as the name suggests, is covered in thick brown pelt that gives it complete immunity to being frozen. The Woolyhop is relatively terrestrial, tending to live on snowy mountains or caves rather than in the watery basins below. They share similar fighting tactics with most other amphitubers, being to jump in the air and then crush anything underneath. However, whenever the Woolyhop jumps or does any action that would force off latched-on Pikmin, they will be trapped inside the Wollywog's thick pelt, unable to move, and not even whistling will free them. Fortunately, the Woolyhop is rather slow for a wollywog, taking its time to hop across the ground and generally being easier to outmaneuver.
Though it can be attacked normally, the pressure of having Pikmin trapped in the Woolyhop's fur is all that is needed for a leader to possibly make a mistake and be under the Woolyhop's body when it lands, potentially making it one of the most dangerous enemies to face. The reason the Woolyhop is quite reluctant toward sea travel is that its fur is so thick that any water, such as that from blue syrups, that enters it will make it wet and heavy. This, in turn, makes the hair too soggy to be able to trap Pikmin and prevents it from jumping effectively. At this point, any time it tries to shake Pikmin off, there is a chance that the water trapped in its fur will also be shaken out, necessitating applying more water to it. A similar effect will be achieved by using a red syrup, at the resulting flames will simply evaporate the water while the water douses the flames. Overall, missing the opportunity to put this dangerous foe at a disadvantage could result in it wreaking havoc on the squad.
