The Gold Bulborb is a species of grub-dog appearing in Pikmin Evolution. It gets its name for one rather simple reason, its lustrous golden skin, which it gets from its diet of some of the richest and purest foods found in the animal kingdom. Otherwise, the Gold Bulborb has the same build as a standard Bulborb, just with the addition of a massive frame much like that of the Jumbo Bulborb also a result of its diet. The Gold Bulborb is extremely rare, never encountered in the wild or any dens, and its need for a clean and pure diet means it won't appear in most raids as they are often directed toward polluted settlements. Rather, the Gold Bulborb will only target settlements with an extremely clean atmosphere, which is a rare occurrence in itself. Even then. it is not guaranteed to appear in such a raid, and even when it does, it prefers to remain at the back while enemies in the front line press on. Despite its increased size and appetite, the Gold Bulborb is a coward and will flee at the slightest sign of danger, never to be seen again in the raid.
Because of the Gold Bulborb's proneness to flee from all potential threats, battles against them are more a wild chase than an actual conflict. On top of this, it is often required to contend with the other enemies in the raid to be able to reach the Gold Bulborb in the first place. It has some of the highest health of any grub-dog, being just shy of the Tsar Bulblax in terms of vitality, making it quite resilient, and it has the Emperor Bulblax's ability to roar, inducing panic in nearby Pikmin. Fortunately, the creature is slow to eat Pikmin and shake them off, so swarming its hide is key to keeping pace with it. As it is hurt, the Gold Bulborb sheds gold nuggets, which may initially seem like a good idea to collect for sparklium, but merely serve as a diversion tactic. An effective strategy against the Gold Bulborb is to take advantage of its fascination with and weakness to fire by throwing a red syrup at it to set it ablaze, making it flee in terror but also draining its health at a much faster rate than any other attack could. When slain, the Gold Bulborb, true to its name, drops a payload of gold nuggets in addition to the nuggets it's already dropped, and its body can be delivered to either the ship for 
× 1,000, the highest sparklium yield of any creature or refuse, or the Onion for 100 Pikmin, the same as the Smoky Progg's pearl. Overall, the rewards of killing a Gold Bulborb more than exceed its rarity and the trouble of hunting it in the first place, though it takes much time, energy, and patience. There are some creatures that are better off as trophies, and the Gold Bulborb is one of them.
