The Red Bulbear is a member of the grub-dog family and relative of the Spotty Bulbear that appears in Pikmin: Adventures of Olimar. It greatly resembles the Spotty Bulbear but has a crimson-colored backside much like the Red Bulborb does, although with spots that are red rather than white. As they are nocturnal, Red Bulbears are typically found asleep, and surrounded on all sides by their dwarf counterpart, the Dwarf Red Bulbear.

Killing Strategy
As they are often in the company of Dwarf Red Bulbears and do not awaken until touched or harmed, Red Bulbears should be left alone until their offspring are dealt with. The same general strategies used against bulborbs should be used against a Red Bulbear, but beware of the beast's high vitality. Additionally, it is imperative that Pikmin be kept away from its mouth to minimize casualties.
This beast usually is surrounded by Dwarf Red Bulbear, so before you go after the adult, it is wise to go after the dwarves first. Once you've eliminated the dwarves, head for the adult. Use the same strategy as you would with Red Bulborbs, but be aware about the Red Bulbear's extra health. As this species of Bulborb have larger mouths, keep Pikmin away from the front of the beast.

Red Bulbears, in Pikmin: Revenge of the Darkfreeze, are formidable grub-dogs that have red skin and a black backside bearing red spots. They are similar in behavior to the Green Bulbear, but will attack and attempt to kill Green Bulbears and their dwarf counterparts. At the same time, Spotty Bulbears will run amok, completely oblivious to any Pikmin turning the tides. Once the battle is over, the winner roars and any Spotty Bulbears nearby will rally their dwarfs and fall in line. These bulbears and Green Bulbears are evenly matched, so whichever side has the bigger army or struck first is usually the winner. Also, Dwarf Red Bulbears will sometimes fight Spotty Bulbears for command over Dwarf Bulbears, but such an act is very quickly silenced by the head bulbear.
This enemy was originally supposed to appear in PikSpore, where it had a red back, black spots and a mouth lined with shark-like teeth. It would swiftly run after Pikmin and appear in Darkness Plateau had it not been cut.

Also, Dwarf Red Bulbears will sometimes fight Spotty Bulbears for command over Dwarf Bulbears, but this is usually silenced by the head Bulbear really quickly. Olimar's notes

Astonishingly, I have discovered a relative of the spotty bulbear! However, my find is not much different from the original species, but its appearance is strikingly similar to that of a red bulborb when viewed from behind. The only giveaway, though, is its bright red spots, as opposed to white. Unlike the spotty bulbear, this creature sleeps in the day and only seems to be active at night. Intriguing!

Scientific name Unknown
Family Grub-dog
Attacks Eats Pikmin

In Pikspore

Template:PS The Red Bulbear was originally supposed to appear in Pikspore, in Darkness Plateau. It would have had a red backside bearing black spots, and a mouth lined with jagged teeth. Its behaviors would have consisted of running swiftly after Pikmin to eat them.
