The Absorbion is a species of sharpshell appearing in Pikmin Evolution. It shares a similar body structure to its close relatives, the Porquillion and Torquillion, that being a quadruped mammal with a segmented bulb-like structure on its back. In this case, the Absorbion has a yellow main body, and its backside is orange and notably has a soft, porous texture rather than the firmer texture of its kin. It is found in coastal areas such as beaches and coral reefs, often sunbathing and eating any seeds it comes across. It also ingests any pellets and nectar it comes across with its long tongue to restore its own health, potentially explaining a noticeable lack of them in a particular location. Aside from that, ingesting nectar and pellets allows the Absorbian to secrete an amber-colored fluid, similar in complexion and appearance to that of the Foolix, from its back. The fluid acts as protection for the Absorbion, nullifying not only any direct attacks from Pikmin, but also damage from fire by extinguishing it, acid by evaporating it, water making the fluid thicker and more durable than it already was, and explosions by repelling the force of the blast.

The only way to remove the fluid protecting the Absorbion is by tossing Pikmin onto the creature's hide and slowly breaking it down. However, the Absorbion is a very defensive creature and will scatter some of its fluid as an attack, creating sticky puddles for Pikmin to get trapped in. While this reduces the amount of fluid on the Absorbion's back and therefore makes it easier to get rid of, the creature has more use for its loose fluid beyond that, as it will eventually inflate its back to suck the loose fluid back onto itself, killing any Pikmin still stuck in any loose globs. As such, the best way to defeat the Absorbion is to make it suck up something it shouldn't. Using syrups to freeze or poison the fluid is effective, and affects the Absorbion in different ways. Freezing any of the fluid on the creature's body not only weighs it down significantly and makes it slower but also allows Pikmin to damage the creature without having to get through the now-frozen fluid first, and freezing any loose bits on the ground will inadvertently cause the Absorbion to hit itself with icy chunks when it tries to recollect the fluid, causing heavy damage as well as temporarily stunning it. Poisoning the fluid, however, prevents the Absorbion from secreting any more for a long time due to the toxins interfering with the functions of its glands. When defeated, the Absorbion will perish, and a piece of refuse will be dislodged from its backside, as well as an assortment of sprays and pellets, making it quite the valuable creature to hunt.

Notes

Ivy's journal

This strange species of sharpshell seems to have developed a strange mutation, replacing its needles with congregated body fluids. However, it seems that toxic substances that enter its system seem to end up stopping its fluid production. These fluids are actually the material a Sharpshell uses to create spines, but the compounds are missing to actually harden said spines.

This gel seems to have a lemony taste. After harvesting the gel, mold it into the style of a cake. Add sliced pellet posies, bananas, and strawberries to add flavor.

Marvin's strategy guide

This animal seems to have some strange substance around it that we can't damage. But if physics class taught me anything... it was... uh... I don't remember! But hitting this guy with frozen bits of its own fluid seems to do the trick.
