The Moldcake is a species of unfortunate shellcake in Pikmin Evolution that has been infected by a sporovid. It is a moldy green shellcake with foggy grey eyes. On its eyestalks is a strange white webbing, which is actually mycelium, slowly growing mushrooms on the Moldcake's eyes. One side of the Moldcake is cracked and greyed, resembling a dry lakebed, while the other side is covered in more white mycelium mixed with festering green mold. The cracked side can be attacked by all Pikmin types, though when attacked, the Moldcake will flip over in an attempt to crush anything underneath itself, also revealing the moldy side of its body, which emits poisonous green gas. When the Moldcake flips over onto its moldy side, more poison gas will blast out in all directions.
The Moldcake is noticeably slower than most of its kin, but makes up for it by having twice the health, making it more resilient and therefore harder to kill. The toxin-immune Roach Pikmin are the only ones that attack it, though they can still be crushed if Moldcake flips over onto them. Being a corpse controlled by spores, the Moldcake is obviously immune to poison and mold, but like all sporovid-infected enemies, it has a crippling weakness to fluid substances such as water and acid, typically from blue and green syrups respectively. Water will wash the moldy side of the Moldcake clean, damaging it and allowing that side to be attacked by all Pikmin types. In that state, the crush-immune Alloy Pikmin can quickly dispatch the creature with little issue. Acid, however, will disintegrate its outer shell, exposing the soft body within. While this doesn't remove the mold from the creature's body, it essentially halves its health. Overall, while not the most dangerous creature, the Moldcake does present a twist to standard shellcake battle tactics.
