Get that paint off the Pikmin pronto! – The ship, upon discovering the Painted Splat-hog

The Painted Splat-hog is an enemy appearing in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf's Withered Remnant DLC. They resemble most grounded blowhogs, having a stocky, white body with four stubby legs. The snout of a Painted Splat-hog is multicolored and has the color of each Pikmin type. The body of the blowhog is covered in numerous splatters of paint as well, making the creature quite colorful.

Painted Splat-hogs will wander around closely in their territory. Once it spots any Pikmin nearby, it will begin to pursue them. When close enough, the Painted Splat-hog will charge up a hock of paint, and proceed to spew the paint all over the Pikmin and captains. Paint that hits the captains only slows them down and obscures the player's screen for a short period. However, any paint that touches the Pikmin will cause them to change to a random type, no matter what Pikmin has been discovered at the time. The paint will remain on the Pikmin for around two minutes before it naturally drips off and reverts Pikmin to normal. However, the paint can also be washed off by any water attack from enemies, a pool, or by a sprinkler. When washed off by water, non-Blue Pikmin will be immune to the water for a few seconds.

Although the attack of a Painted Splat-hog may look preferable, the paint can easily disrupt and cause chaos within the Pikmin squad. If there are hazards nearby that the Pikmin are immune to, they may become not immune to them due to the paint. It's best for a Painted Splat-hog to be taken out as soon as possible, before it can cause any chaos.

In Overlord mode, the paint from a Painted Splat-hog lasts an extra two minutes, and stronger Pikmin types have a lower chance of appearing from the paint.

Olimar's notes

This species of blowhog seemingly is able to create a strange concoction of a paint-like substance within its stomach. When it regurgitates this fluid, it confuses the Pikmin to a degree where the cells will begin to change the body composition of the Pikmin drastically. An entirely new transformation ensues for a short period of time, until the compound is washed away by water. Then, the cells will revert back to their original state through a process identified as Piktosis.

...Okay, I made all that up. I have no clue what's going on here.

Louie's notes

This paint is toxic, unfortunately. But I did have a taste... I feel weird. Why is my skin purple?

President’s notes

A few jars of this and I can have an unstoppable army of Weighted Pikmin in just a few moments! Nothing can stop this plan now! Wait... is it raining?

Overlord’s thoughts

I have to study this animal more. But my laboratory is kind of full right now. There are a lot of strange anomalies on this planet that I cannot just chalk up to evolution or radiation. This blowhog is definitely a strange case indeed.
