The Plated Bulblax is a grub-dog in Pikmin: Redemption that is slightly larger than a Fiery Bulblax. Its backside is protected by tough plates, meaning that only the head is susceptible to attack, at least initially; using bomb rocks to blast the plates off of its body will make the plates reveal their true form as parasites, growing six spidery legs and walking towards Pikmin, attempting to squash them under their weight. Throwing Purple Pikmin, their only weakness, on top of the plate-spiders will smash them apart, but because they can be dangerous to fight alongside the Plated Bulblax, consider strategically removing only one or two plates at a time by letting the bomb rock go off only somewhat close to the plates. The skin of the grub-dog itself is tan with shades of red and has many bite marks from the parasites. Once the Plated Bulblax is defeated, any plate-spiders still attached to the creature will remain there.
