Story

Opening

Olimar arrives back at Hocotate Freight with Louie bundled up in rope. Chacho says they must set out to PNF-404 again tomorrow on a voyage to collect more food to help sustain the planet and more money to keep Hocotate Freight up and running.

Olimar glumly walks back home as Louie yawns, and Chacho shrugs.

The camera pans up as the day speeds to night and then to dawn. The camera returns to its original position as Olimar walks back and hops in a new ship, followed by Louie. The camera follows the ship as it takes off. The camera transitions to a birds-eye view of the house as the ship rockets down towards it. The ship moves toward the porch, just as Aunt Carol spots it and runs inside, coming out with a racket and hitting it, sending it to the ground. Olimar and Louie hop out, and Carol quickly sprints off, screaming. Louie turns to Olimar and says What was their deal? and Olimar shrugs. The game then transitions to the tutorial.

Tutorial

The camera focuses on Olimar as a text box appears. It's a broadcast from Chacho: Hey Olimar, I forgot to tell you how to advance onward!. First, the tutorial guides the player on moving around, interacting with the crashed ship, using items, and finally using the jetpack. After landing from using the jetpack, it seems to short out. It's out of fuel! Chacho says that the fuel reservoir is in the ship, and Olimar mentions that a giant destroyed the ship. Chacho stares in awe momentarily, before saying Well, guess it's onto trying to find it. The box closes, and the player is left with Olimar. The player then gains full control and is allowed to explore.

Story

The day starts early with the sunrise and ends when the sun begins to set. Walking around the Balcony of Beginnings, the player can immediately spot a crystal hanging atop the porch's railing, but it's too far out of reach. If the player approaches the door, a text box will open, reading There's something stuck under here... You can't get past right now. and the active captain will shrug. If the player were to walk to the staircase to the yard, a text box would open, reading If you go down there now, you won't be able to get back up. Let's try exploring the area you're in now! with the active captain staring at the camera and rolling their eyes. Wandering right of the ship, following muddy paw prints around the corner of the building, and climbing onto a shallow plant bed, the player will come across a bent tulip, its petals shaking. Walking closer will cause the tulip head to fling forward and drop a Pink Onion and three Winged Pikmin before returning to an upright position. The Onion roots itself and sprays pollen on everything around it. Olimar quickly jots in a notebook and holds it towards the camera, opening the Piklopedia to Gilded Crowns, Winged Pikmin, and Onions. In the bottom left corner of the Piklopedia is a keybind key for closing the Piklopedia menu. Hitting back reverts to the regular menu, then to gameplay with a keybind icon showing how to open the menu.

The Winged Pikmin flutter around and make cheery noises as they fly up and away. Olimar looks up as the Pikmin enter the Gilded Crowns and the buds twitch, before flicking and launching both the Winged Pikmin and blobs of nectar onto the ground below. The Winged Pikmin return with flowers on the ends of their stems instead of leaves. Exploring around, the player can find 9 Pellet Posies around the planter and plenty of nectar weed. With 20 Winged Pikmin, the player can push the bag at the top of the staircase, leading down to the one below, and providing the reach to collect a Speckled Sunfruit. After collecting it, the day will end, showing that the Speckled Sunfruit had just enough food to keep them fed for that day. When the player starts the first proper day, an open grill off to the left of the rocket will be accessible via Bouncy Mushrooms. Lying on the grill are two Protein Tubes each weighing 10 units. Going to the other side of the grill, the player will find a Giant's Synthesizer, a pair of tongs, which weighs 22 units and is worth P2 Poko icon.png × 270. Behind the Giant's Synthesizer is a Bouncy Mushroom that will thrust them and Pikmin onto the railing. From there, the player can encounter a Red Bulborb family and the aforementioned hanging crystal, that being the Priceless Wonder, worth P2 Poko icon.png × 1,200. If the player were to jump onto the Bouncy Mushroom from the railing, it would allow them to access a window box, which has a Speckled Sunset, a painted rock.
