Coastal Sheargrubs are tropical enemies residing in Creature's Quay in Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers. They are mustard-colored mandiblards with beige carapaces, red mouths, purple eyes, and numerous small yellow feet, making them one of the few mandiblards with limbs. They resemble the real-world mole crab. They are most common in, but not exclusive to, the jungle island's sandy beaches. They burrow out of the ground like other mandiblards and eat Pikmin like a Male Sheargrub. They move faster than most sheargrubs, about the speed of a Swarming Sheargrub. Their armor makes them stronger, having higher health and defense. They also tend to flee from leaders and Pikmin when their health is too low. Rock Pikmin are capable of defeating them in one hit, making them ideal counters.

Notes

Olimar's notes

Mandiblards are no stranger to sand and tropics, but they can easily be washed away by waves and soon perish. Beach-dwelling sheargrubs eventually evolved legs to burrow into surf zone sand and help them climb up wet shores. The protective carapace keeps it safe from Pikmin attacks.

Louie's notes

Break the shell, remove the eyes, shuck the legs and mince the remaining meat. If you like making art with your food display, the color of this creature opens many possibilities.

Ship's comments

I thought mandiblards couldn't swim! Why does this one live in what's essentially the epicenter of water?
