The Landmine Groink is an enemy in Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers. It dons steel, multicolored armor that makes it resemble a ranchu goldfish. It has a wrench head-shaped tail. On its armor is a painted mouth not unlike the the, "shark mouth" design seen on the noses of some fighter planes, and there is a hatch on its back where it contains the titular landmines. It also has armored legs and feet. The Landmine Groink is also notable for being the very first enemy created for Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers.

The Landmine Groink wamders around the arena, and when it gets near pikmin, it will open its back hatch and release three pink, pellet shaped objects. If leaders or Pikmin walk over these pellets, they will begin intensely spraying a flurry of sparks before exploding three seconds later, detonating all other explosives in range. The landmines will fizz out and break apart if they go into water, rendering them harmless. The Landmine Groink can also use the front of its head to bludgeon Pikmin into the ground, crushing them. When defeated, all remaining landmines inside the Landmine Groink's compartment will be set off. The hatch will suddenly clamp shut as the Landmine Groink's eyes widen. The mines will all procede to go off at once, blowing the Landmine Groink's armor clean off and revealing it as a scrawny, completely flesh-based bipedal fish resembling a Black Moor goldfish. The creature is completely incapable of living without its armor, and it collapses dead on the ground soon after.

Notes

Olimar's notes

A species in the shot-fish family that has evolved to be one with machinery even moreso than the Gatling Groink. This creature uses explosives as weapons, as with most shot-fish. However, it seems to use its landmines for the sake of hunting, rather than territorial defense or just simply mindless harassment of other specimens. It seems to be completely incapable of surviving without its armor, to the point that it doesn't even have an internal skeleton. Nonetheless, I very well fear that these creatures may very well be the downfall of PNF-404 if left unchecked.

Louie's notes

Even though their meat has the texture of a literal rubber chicken, it should not be overlooked! The chewiness is what draws you back in again and again.
