Pikmin drinking nectar.

Nectar is used to turn Pikmin from leaf or bud stages directly into the flower stage. A single drop of this yellow liquid can be shared by several Pikmin. Swarming Sheargrubs can also drink nectar and will grow bigger if they do.

Usage

When on the ground, any leaf or bud Pikmin that passes by it will crouch down and begin to slurp it for roughly two seconds, regardless of being idled or directed to it.

In some games, any number of Pikmin may drink a blob at once, but a single Pikmin can drink the entire content by itself too. In other words, as long as a drop is being slurped, other Pikmin may join in.

In other games, a single Pikmin will not exhaust the entire supply at once, drinking only one-tenth of the total and leaving the rest instead. This means that a drop of nectar can be used multiple times, but is only enough for ten usages in total.

In fanon games

Below this point is where users place their version of nectar.

In Pikmin Adventure

Instead of there having a maximum amount of 20 blobs of nectar (or sprays) allowed in the area, you can have an infinite amount of nectar blobs on the screen. However, the more blobs there are, the game slows down. Up to 100 can be in one area at one time before the game begins to slow. Having over 1,000 will make the game crash (if you manage to get that high).

In Pikmin: Wide World

In Pikmin: Wide World, nectar can increment a Pikmin's maturity in two ways. Like in Pikmin 3, ten Pikmin can drink from a blob of nectar before it is completely consumed. Leaders that walk into a pool of nectar, no matter its size, will consume it as they would a normal spray nectar and store it in a Spray Bottle for future use. When sprayed, nectar will increase the maturity of Pikmin in the small cloud of it by one; a leaf Pikmin in the cloud of nectar will mature into a bud Pikmin, and a bud Pikmin standing in it will mature into a flower Pikmin. This nectar cloud only lasts a short time, and only the Pikmin that were in the range of it the moment it was used are affected. Flowered Pikmin are not affected by nectar and will ignore nectar. Nectar can be gained from a variety of sources such as eggs, Nectar grass and other vegetation, and some enemies. As Ultra-bitter spray is heavily changed from Pikmin 2 in Pikmin: Wide World, petrified enemies no longer drop nectar or sprays unless they usually do so.
