The Penance Grub-dog is the most powerful member of the grub-dog family in Pikmin: Redemption and is encountered only at the Merged Nothingness. It is a horrible chimera resembling parts of every grub-dog fused with a large Emperor Bulblax. Simply avoiding it would be the optimal choice considering the extreme danger it poses, as it has a range of devastating attacks at its disposal including eating, burning, and crushing Pikmin, creating shockwaves, and summoning Mitites, but it yields a unique reward upon death. When the creature rears up to create a shockwave, swarming Pikmin around its twelve feet will cause it to topple over because of its topheaviness, leaving its soft underbelly exposed. Throwing enough Pikmin at its underbelly should reduce its health by one-fourth each time this process is repeated. Upon defeat, the Penance Bulblax will spit up a certificate of defeat, a scrap of paper that serves no purpose other than to prove the beast was slain. Attempting to slay the Penance Grub-dog with leaders alone is futile, as leaders can not harm it, and most of its attacks will instantly down them even at full health.
