Poisonous Burrow-nits are advantageous enemies to have around because they can defeat enemies. They behave exactly the same as Cloaking Burrow-nits. Poisonous Burrow-nit shells have only one large red circle on them. They can eat only one Pikmin at a time unless it spears an enemy instead, in which case it can steadily take poison damage for a short time unless the enemy itself is poison-related.

The Poisonous Burrow-nit bears a resemblance to the Cloaking Burrow-nit but has a purple shell instead, and the markings on the back are just a pair of blue swirls. The bug itself is blue with red eyes. It behaves exactly like a Cloaking Burrow-nit except for the fact that it is enveloped in an eternal cloud of poison which only fades after the creature is defeated, meaning only White Pikmin or a similar Pikmin may be used to defeat it. The poison is actually the creature rapidly exhaling. Poisonous Burrow-nits have pores in their backs that take in the planet's oxygen and exhale it quickly as poisonous gas.
