The Aquatic Sheargrub is a four-legged mandiblard in Pikmin: Sinister Incinerator that skims along the surface of water. They may not move fast, but these insects have an appetite for wooden bridges, as well as plant life that falls in the water; the males also like to feed upon Pikmin by using their long mandibles. Defeating Aquatic Sheargrubs from the shore requires a Pikmin to be thrown directly on top of their back to push them under the water's surface, where they will likely drown before they can save themselves. Because they are so similar to pond skaters, the Aquatic Sheargrub is like an ancient water predator that has changed very little over time compared to so many of the other creatures that inhabit the Pikmin Planet.

Water Sheargrubs are mandiblards much like their ground-dwelling relatives but live in and around pools of water. They are often in the presence of lotuses and thrive in moisture. Water Sheargrubs have more vitality than most other sheargrubs and can eat Pikmin and bite leaders.
