The Darkfreeze Emperor Bulblax is a grub-dog, specifically an Emperor Bulblax, in Pikspore that has has been infused with darkfreeze energy. Its face is dark blue with neon cyan lines and sharp, jagged lips. It has a large, spiky backside with ice covering it. It is very large, slightly bigger than the Emperor Bulblax fought in Pikmin 1. It resembles a spiky purple wall at first glance, but when approached, it emerges and starts stomping about its arena. It has a wide array of attacks, including what ordinary Emperor Bulblaxes can do but with more ferocity.
To eat Pikmin the Darkfreeze Emperor Bulblax sweeps its large tongue in a circle around itself, catching Pikmin on its tongue as it goes, and can devour up to fifty Pikmin in one execution. Its stomp attack is mostly one the creature uses in self-defense and involves it making a small hop, the impact upon landing unleashing a shockwave that throws all Pikmin attacking it to the walls of the arena. A more powerful variation of this attack is used when it is as half-health or below and involves the creature performing a massive leap and then crashing down onto Pikmin, creating an equally massive shockwave that deflowers Pikmin. It can cause Pikmin to panic by blasting a red energy pulse from its mouth. Its roar incites Dark Scuttlers to crawl out of the ground and attack Pikmin. Using fire breath, the creature can shoot fireballs from its mouth, as well as set itself ablaze to prevent all Pikmin except Red Pikmin from attacking it. Similarly, it can spray water droplets from its mouth as well as engulf itself in a water bubble to shield itself against all but Blue Pikmin, and spit homing snowballs as well as cloak itself in an icy mist to deter attacks from all except Cyan Pikmin. It can electrocute all except Yellow Pikmin by blasting a ray of green energy, during which the creature glows yellow. Lastly, its acid bomb attack involves it firing an acid bubble that, upon hitting an obstacle, bursts in a shower of acid.
