The Deposed Bulblax is a species of grub-dog patriarch in Pikmin Evolution that has been infected by mold originating from a sporovid. It is the infected form of a fully-grown Emperor Bulblax. Its skin is pale grey with a rancid green tint, its eyes are dull and foggy, and its hide is black and crusty due to the mold killing the moss previously occupying it. The backside of the Deposed Bulblax also bears several small blue clumps of mold, and its face has become numb due to rigor mortis. Like the Emperor Bulblax, the Deposed Bulblax waits in the ground for something to approach it, emerging when they do and promptly attempting to eat them with its long, sticky tongue. When it lashes out its tongue to eat Pikmin, corrosive sludge splatters onto the ground around it, leaving an acidic mess that only Germ Pikmin can clean. As well, the Deposed Bulblax can drop clumps of mold from its body when it performs its leaping attack. These mold clumps may burst into Toxcaps if left intact for too long, an issue that Roach Pikmin can resolve. The Deposed Bulblax is heavily implied to be the same Emperor Bulblax fought as the final boss of Pikmin 1, which the playable leaders are not aware of.

The glowing mold clumps on the Deposed Bulblax's rear can be destroyed by any Pikmin type, though Roach Pikmin and Germ Pikmin are the best types against this creature since so many of its attacks involve mold and acid, and destroying every one of the mold clumps will kill the Bulblax. Despite its rancid saliva, the beast retains its weakness to water and acid, as water will cause the Bulblax to become sluggish and acid will not only heavily damage the mold clumps on its backside but also soften its face enough to allow normal damage.

Although the Deposed Bulblax itself is already a significant threat, it is not alone, as somewhere near its nest is its mate, the Broodmother Bulblax, accompanied by its brood of Moldy Bulborb Larvae. Though fought independently of one another, they seem to have affection for one another, as slaying one will enrage the other. If the Broodmother Bulblax was killed first, the bulbs on the Deposed Bulblax's backside become black, now immune to the effects of water or acid, forcing a fight without the help of either two elements. In addition, the Deposed Bulblax will use an even deadlier concoction as its main attack, as instead of acid spraying from its tongue, it exhales a cloud of gloom when it attempts to lick its targets, lingering in the air for some time before seeping into the ground and becoming mold. The Deposed Bulblax can also weep concentrated balls of gloom, which will land on the ground and create shockwaves, but not mold. Lastly, the Deposed Bulblax will create a massive gloom shockwave when it lands its jumping attack. While enraged, all of its attacks become dramatically more dangerous as gloom will instantly kill any Pikmin that cross it. As such, with its mate down for the count, the Deposed Bulblax can prove to be a massive threat.

Upon defeat, the Deposed Bulblax drops a piece of refuse, often to compliment the refuse dropped by the Broodmother Bulblax, emphasizing the link between them. Overall, time, patience, and awareness may be all that is needed to take this creature down with minimal casualties.
