The Flaming Crawbster is a creep-crab appearing in Pikmin Adventures, encountered on sublevel ten of Burning Cave, a cave at Mayhem Mountain, as its boss. It is as dangerous as it is menacing, having incredibly aggressive behaviors in addition to a body that is cloaked in flame. The Flaming Crawbster is similar to the Segmented Crawbster in appearance and behavior, and which sublevel and arena in which it is fought. The Flaming Crawbster leaves flames in its wake as it moves, and causes only a few boulders to fall from the sublevel's ceiling upon striking a wall. The Flaming Crawbster is primarily red and orange. Its right arm is hypertrophic and has a row of spikes, tipped with silver, on its outer side. Fire bursts out like a rocket engine from under one of its armored plates. It is noticeably smaller than its relatives. When translated to English, the Flaming Crawbster's scientific name translates roughly to "fire burning crush".

As only Yellow Pikmin may be brought into the cave in which it is fought and no Crimson Candypop Buds exist within, the Flaming Crawbster can not be challenged using the fire-resistant Red Pikmin. Fortunately, the outer edges of its arena are occupied by a pool of water, nullifying the need for Red Pikmin. Having at most twenty Yellow Pikmin to use against the Flaming Crawbster is recommended. Having them under the effects of ultra-spicy spray at all times is wise. When the Flaming Crawbster curls into a ball and begins to roll, pay attention to the fire coming from its back, as it flaring up signals it accelerating at high speed in a straight line at its prey. Coaxing it into a wall during this time will cause it to flip over and land in the water in its arena, extinguishing its flames and rendering its underbelly vulnerable to attack but also causing a small number of boulders to fall. After some seconds it will compose itself, flip over, and reignite itself, and during this time Pikmin should be called back. Repeating this process will result in the Flaming Crawbster's death and cause it to spit up the 4-Way Transmitter.

With four players, it is recommended that two leaders stand by one another, without any Pikmin, in the water, while the other two leaders remain by the ship's pod and have the Pikmin by their side. When the Flaming Crawbster is about to charge, the leaders in the water should dodge out of the way, and the two by the ship's pod should move in to attack the vulnerable crawbster, repeating the strategy as many times as needed.

Notes

Olimar's notes

The flaming crawbster's internal organs are located at its underbelly to make room for the gas glands under its skin. These glands produce a special gas that combusts upon contact with air. What purpose the fire serves is unknown, as the creature is too big to have any predators and is covered in armor. Scientists have speculated that the creature is simply showing off its survival abilities.

Sagittarius's notes

This thing is huge and scary! Spiky arms, flaming skin, glowing orange eyes... It makes me very afraid! Oops, don't tell Dad that I said that! I'm one hundred percent brave!
