The Sea Weevil is a hidden enemy in Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers. It is a blue arthropod around the size of an Ujadani, and fulfills a similar purpose. It has an appearance akin to a radiodont, with blue eyes and numerous green lobes for propulsion. It lives in groups of around thirty individuals within bodies of water in Misty Badlands, and there is a 25% chance of spotting them every time a cave is exited. Blue Pikmin can be used to attack them, which causes them to burst open. When this is done, nectar and dollops of ultra-spicy spray will often be released. Occasionally, a Sea Weevil that bursts open will release frigid cold mist instead, freezing the Blue Pikmin that attacked it. When this happens, the other Sea Weevils will begin trying to scatter, and will eventually escape if left alone for long enough. Nearby creatures such as Sputtlefish and Glacialbelly Douphins could use this to their advantage and easily attack frozen Pikmin.
Due to their uncommon nature, albino Sea Weevils are much more common compared to most other albino variants of enemies.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “Unlike most organisms on this planet that utilize the cold to their advantage, the Sea Weevil uses nitrogen rather than ammonia to keep itself at a specific temperature. A rare sight in the wild that only comes out during the winter months, Sea Weevils are spawned in the late fall by an adult specimen, called a Broodmonger. When they hatch in the winter, the Sea Weevils will huddle close to the shores of fjords without their parent. They rely on Pellet Kelp to sustain themselves at this age, and will often work as a group to persevere.”
Louie's notes
- “Boil specimens in a pot without the shell, and drizzle spicy cajun sauce over them when finished to offset the chilly undertones. Serve with a baked potato.”
Ship's comments
- “I really don't have any strong opinions on these guys. They would be cool for an aquarium, but nobody would want something that associates itself with weevils...”
