The Spiraling Joustmite is a burrow-nit miniboss appearing in Pikmin: Spark. Although the shells of all Spiraling Joustmites have splotches, not all of them are the same color; the Cavern of Cobwebs' has a cyan shell with green splotches, Chilling Frontier's has a tan shell with orange splotches, and Rust Labyrinth's has a red shell with black splotches. The most noticeable part of the Spiraling Joustmite is that instead of having a proboscis that can be thrust forward like a harpoon, the namesake spiral-shaped proboscis of this species can be spun like a drill. It bores into prey by charging into them at high speeds with no disregard for its safety. However, upon colliding with a wall during an attack, its vulnerable backside becomes exposed to attack by predators such as Pikmin. However, the shock from the ramming attack causes rocks to fall from above, crushing what they land on, so using Rock Pikmin would be recommended to avoid losses from the falling debris.
In Ultra-Spicy Mode, Spiraling Joustmites have different behaviors regarding colliding with vertical surfaces. Rather than become stunned initially, it burrows into the surface and soon emerges from another part of the arena before hitting another wall and becoming stunned. The number of times a Spiraling Joustmite burrows into a wall rises as its health is depleted.
Upon defeat, Spiraling Joustmites always yield a Brimstone Backscratcher, a rusty fork worth × 275.
Notes
Abel's medical journal
- “ I could learn a lot from this creature's spinning mouth. We could model surgeon tools around the spiraling motions.”
Lyn's sale review
- “A pack of these creatures can be used to create tunnels. Just put protection on them and they could revolutionize construction.”
PIX's creature scan

- Habitat: caves
- Niche: carnivore
- Maturity age: 2 years
- Average lifespan: 7 years
