The Glitter Bulborb is a rare bulborb that has adapted to eating metal. It primarily consumes prey that also feeds on metal, preferring rarer metals over more common metals, indicating where Glitter Bulborbs can be found. Tougher metal is indigestible by a Glitter Bulborb, but their body rids it of irregularities before the object is regurgitated, resulting in the purification of the metal piece. Armored Cannon Beetle Larvae go through a similar process, by feeding on metals regurgitated by their adult form, the Armored Cannon Beetle. The Glitter Bulborb's backside resembles black iron and is invulnerable to attack. A Glitter Bulborb can be defeated with Pikmin by throwing them onto its face, but leaders must use their jetpacks to be able to reach its face. Beware the beast's bite, which is instantly fatal to a leader due to their metal suits. At half health, a Glitter Bulborb will charge its airborne attackers, knocking them out of the air and depleting half of their health gauges.

I had a smile on my face when he went down for the count. ...What if he reads this? Anyways, could that weird swirling glitter on its face be a weakness?"

- "This is a unique bulborb, specially designed to devour metal. However, the mandibles are not tough enough to devour raw metal, and it thus feeds on pure metal alloys. It poses a serious threat to explorers, as a major component of their suits is metal. Just as this bulborb consumes metal, its face has taken on a golden sheen, and its abdomen is made up of an impenetrable crust of black ore. Interestingly it does not exhibit the desire to devour Pikmin seen in almost every other grub-dog thus far, and seems to be mentally strong enough to resist the influence of the Doom Essence."

In Pikmin Extinction, the Glitter Bulborb has a soft underbelly that can only be properly attacked if its legs are swarmed or its eyes are attacked by Pikmin. A single bite from a Glitter Bulborb will remove a quarter of a leader's health.
