Petrified Arbor is the first cave in Volcanic Wastes in Pikspore. It takes place inside of a burnt tree and has many fire-related enemies. White Pikmin are encountered in this cave. It is a relatively easy cave to get through and is likely the second one visited. What makes this cave unique from the rest is that this one is ascended rather than descended, with the enormous Snitchbug Queen being fought in the arena at the top of the tree.
Sublevel 1
- Enemies:
- Dwarf Red Bulborb × 3
- Shearwig × 7
- Obstacles:
- Fire geyser × 6
The layout is simple, consisting of a few circle-shaped rooms connected by tunnels. Stay on the lookout for Shearwigs that may emerge from underneath the burnt foliage, as they're not that dangerous, they can still deliver a surprise. The treasure is slightly buried within the ground, which Pikmin can easily dig out. Afterward, use the geyser to go upwards to the next sublevel.
Sublevel 2
- Enemies:
- Dwarf Red Bulborb × 6 (falls from ceiling)
- Fiery Blowhog × 2
- Swooping Snitchbug × 2
- Obstacles:
- Fire geyser × 9
A slightly harder sublevel, the layout consists of two large rooms connected by tunnels. Enemies such as Fiery Blowhogs lurk within the dead plants, attacking when approached. Two Swooping Snitchbugs also fly around here, snatching up Pikmin and replanting them. One of the Snitchbugs contains a treasure, the other treasure is located in an alcove. Be warned that Dwarf Red Bulborbs will fall from the ceiling here, which can be a pain if Pikmin are carrying something.
Sublevel 3
- Vegetation:
This is the easiest sublevel, as it contains no enemies, only two Ivory Candypop Buds to obtain White Pikmin with. While talking toward the geyser, the White Pikmin will sense a buried treasure and dig it up.
Sublevel 4
- Enemies:
- Munge Dweevil × 2
- Shearwig × 10
- Swooping Snitchbug × 1
- Obstacles:
This mazelike sublevel contains a new hazard; poison gas. Only White Pikmin can destroy the gas pipes, as all others will suffocate when they touch poison. Some enemies also wield poison as a weapon, so be careful. Just get the three treasures and go to the last sublevel.
Sublevel 5
- Enemies:
- Bumbling Snitchbug × indefinite (while boss is alive)
- Snitchbug Queen × 1
- Swooping Snitchbug × indefinite (while boss is alive)
This is the final sublevel. At the top of the tree, the starting point is on a ledge that leads to a large arena. Walk in and there will be a sound like a plane flying towards overheard... only it's not a plane, but the Snitchbug Queen. After its defeat, it drops the Loot Detector.
