The Rockborb is a rock-hard Grub-dog which emerges suddenly from the ground as quickly as a Creeping Chrysanthemum. This odd life-form has lost use of its jaws due to unbelievable ages of dormancy and instead chooses to leap quickly on top of a group of Pikmin to smash them into small pieces that it can absorb through its rock hide. If Cyan Pikmin attack this beast, the rock will slowly crumble and you'll easily immobilize and even vaporize the threat, sometimes leaving behind spoils of some sort. An out-of-place stone on the floor is usually some part of the beast's body which is out of the dirt. Treat it with caution, and you won't lose any Pikmin. Note that Ultra-Bitter Spray is completely ineffective when dealing with this enemy.
Stony Bulborbs are grub-dogs that possess a hard, rock-like shell. The only way to attack them is by blowing off their protective covering using a bomb rock.

The Rockborb is an unusual member of the grub-dog family in Pikmin: Distant Planet that is coated entirely in rock. It is normally found buried in the ground, but it will emerge from its hiding spot should its prey approach too closely. A round brown stone protruding from the ground is usually a Rockborb. Because of its nature, the Rockborb can not move its limbs nor its jaw; instead, it hops towards Pikmin and leaders in a deliberate attempt to crush them. It is also immune to the effects of ultra-bitter spray. Rockborbs move rather slowly, so it is easy to evade them. Using Cyan Pikmin to battle a Rockborb is an effective tactic, as they can easily reduce the creature to debris.
