Attacks Rolls over Pikmin

The Azure Wollyhop is a subspecies of the Yellow Wollyhop appearing in Pikmin 5. It's significantly heavier than other wollyhops, too heavy to jump, so it instead crushes Pikmin by rolling onto them, using its back legs to push itself forward during this motion.

Notes

Olimar's notes

The Azure Wollyhop has a somewhat strange body structure; it developed a much heavier and muscular body than other amphitubers, not for more powerful jumps, but to roll over potential predators. Its rubbery skin is too thick for most creatures to eat and has a bitter-tasting chemical in it, making it unappealing to eat.

Louie's notes

Inedible. Save its skin for study instead. Its innards taste like battery acid, only without the "melting your entire body" part...

Attacks Crushes Pikmin
Why is this Wollywog not hopping? Very unusual... – The ship, upon discovering the Azure Wollywog

The Azure Wollywog is a returning enemy in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The creature is mainly found around tropical areas, primarily in the Enchanted Shore and its respective caves. Azure Wollywogs somewhat resemble Wollywogs, but are much more rounder than other amphitubers. They have four stubby, orange-tipped webbed legs and two beady eyes with black sclera. They have azure skin with an orange underbelly.

Azure Wollywogs can be found sitting idly. If approached, the creature will turn to nearby Pikmin and leaders, simply staring. Once close enough, the creature will perform its attack. It will slowly tilt backward for a few seconds before suddenly charging at the group in a fast roll. The roll only lasts two seconds, but it covers a long distance. Any Pikmin caught by the rolling attack will be killed, except for Rock Pikmin and Weighted Pikmin. Once it finishes rolling, it will slowly turn to any Pikmin it missed and attempt to attack again. If there are no Pikmin nearby, the Azure Wollywog will return back to its territory by rolling to it. If attacked, the Wollywog will slam into the ground three consecutive times to shake off Pikmin. This slam attack is not deadly, unlike the rolling attack.

Azure Wollywogs can be very dangerous if caught off guard. Rock Pikmin or Weighted Pikmin can easily take it out, as they are immune to the creature's crushing abilities. If a Dart Pikmin or Cactus Pikmin is rolled over, the Azure Wollywog will take some damage due to the Pikmins' spikes, although they still will kill the Pikmin nonetheless. Luring an Azure Wollywog into rolling right into a wall will cause it to slam into the wall and be stunned for a few seconds. When defeated, the creature will somewhat deflate and perish, upon which it can be carried.

In Overlord mode, the Azure Wollywog rolls much faster and for three seconds instead of two. Along with this, the creature can turn while rolling.

Olimar's notes

Azure Wollywogs have a much more interesting physical composition than most amphitubers. Due to their size, they cannot hop around at a good speed. They can roll very well, however, making that their primary source of hunting, movement, and self-defense. They also have very rubbery skin, making them much less appealing to predators to eat. Perhaps this is why their numbers have been growing recently...

Louie's notes

Too rubbery, and unfortunately, inedible. You can try to cook this, but it's not worth it.

President’s notes

This rotund frog reminds me of when I used to play basketball! I may be the president of a shipping company, but I can also score a three-pointer as well!

Overlord’s thoughts

Such strange amphibians. I wonder what would happen if I dribbled them like a basketball... No! I mustn't let my intrusive thoughts win... but...
