A male Giga Bulbear appears in One Pikmin as the boss of act eight. Before then, the Giga Bulbear is captured and imprisoned by President Koin, and during the act, the Red Pikmin and Pink Pikmin are sent to the prison to execute the Giga Bulbear. At the last moment, the Giga Bulbear escapes his cell and begins roaming District 13 freely, beginning the Giga Bulbear chase minigame. During the battle, he may bite to inflict sixteen damage to all party members, let out a deep, evil cackle to confuse all party members, and crush all party members under his weight to inflict thirty-two damage to them. The number of experience points and seed dollars he yields upon defeat, two hundred fifty-five, reference the well-known numerical limitation in programming.

The Giga Bulbear is a massive grub-dog appearing in Pikmin: Sinister Incinerator. It resembles most other bulbears, but has light blue skin and spots, purplish lips, and red eyes, and is the size of the Emperor Bulblax in Pikmin 1. It dwells within the farthest reaches of the Predator's Realm, one of the four caves in the Forest Depths.
The chamber in which the Giga Bulbear is encountered is obscenely large to accommodate its size, inadvertently providing many places to hide. It can not be seen at first because it is so far away, but can quickly close the distance between itself and the leaders and Pikmin intruding on its territory. When it gets near, hide and then sneak by it to attack its backside. Avoiding its bite is essential as there is no limit to how many Pikmin it can catch in its mouth. While it stops to look around for its prey, use a dose of ultra-spicy spray, then throw Pikmin, preferably Purple Pikmin because of their raw power, onto the back of its legs. Before the Giga Bulbear can react and shake the Pikmin off, call the Pikmin back and quickly retreat to a hiding place. Repeat this tactic until the Giga Bulbear's legs are crippled, causing it to fall over helplessly. At this point, it becomes harmless and can be finished off quickly by swarming it.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “This gigantic bulbear is another subspecies in the grub-dog family. Strange genetic mutations in the evolution of this particular species led to the formation of the giga bulbear. It has different coloration; it has a blue tint to its facial skin, its spots are blue, it has red eyes, and purple lips. It is theorized that since this is a bulbear, one could probably suggest that the organs of this creature are the same, despite the size. What it feeds on may be small animals such as Pikmin, however this is unknown if it is true or not.”
