The Ivey Bulborb (also spelled Ivy Bulborb) is a Spotty Bulborb subspecies in the fanon game Pikmin:The Escape. It has the general appearance of all other spotty bulborbs. The coloration of this bulborb varies. Most specimens have been seen to exhibit a green head with a yellow back. Others, however, exhibit pinkish heads with green eye stalks instead of plain green heads. All Ivy Bulborbs grow a poisonous variety of ivy on their back, however, so they can only be attacked by Lime Pikmin until they reach 50% health. Once this amount of health is reached, the ivy will fall off and they will be susceptible to attacks from all types of pikmin. The ivy bulborb also can take carcasses and somehow melt them to restore, when it does this, it is a 1 out of 200 chance that it will roar, when it does, it will be a Pink Ivy Bulborb. A Pink Ivy Bulborb is very fast, and can eat up to 10 pikmin at once. When you kill a Pink Ivy Bulborb, it will melt away, leaving a gold pearl which gives you 100 pikmin of your choice. However, when it takes a boss enemy, there is a 1 out of 100 chance it will turn into a Pink Ivy Bulborb. at the end of Victious Volcano, there is always - a pink ivy bulborb.

This creature has an amazing attribute that I have never seen, it has ivy on it's back. It searches prey by letting out a scent which attracts it's favorite food: Asteroid Bugs, then it keeps really still until a victim lands in it's mouth, snapping like a Hocotatian Fly Trap. After it's meal it sleeps until night. At night, it repeats it's tactic. A guess is that the ivy on it's back is for protection.
The Ivy Bulborb is an enemy that appears in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The grub-dog takes on the usual morphology of most of its species. They have a large green rump with a beige snout, which rests upon two spindly, bi-clawed legs. The Ivy Bulborb also has two eyestalks with white sclerae and dark green pupils. The most notable feature of the grub-dog is the numerous vines of poison ivy and nightshade found all over its rump.

Ivy Bulborbs can be found sleeping peacefully. They will not attack Pikmin unless awoken by being attacked by Pikmin, or by an explosion that creates a loud sound. Once awake, the Ivy Bulborb will pursue Pikmin and bite down, eating up to five Pikmin at a time. If the Ivy Bulborb shakes off Pikmin, it will release a cloud of noxious gas that may poison non-White Pikmin. Additionally, the rump of the Ivy Bulborb is also poisonous, and only White Pikmin can attack it. The leaves of the Ivy Bulborb can be plucked off by Pikmin to remove the poison effect, or burned off by fire attacks.

Inedible. Due to ivy, eating could cause fatal injury or death.
Many Pikmin types can easily take down the Ivy Bulborb. Using White Pikmin is the most simple method, as they are immune to the poison ivy. Additionally, Snapdragon Pikmin can also burn the leaves right off the Bulborb, allowing it to be attacked by any Pikmin type. This can also be achieved when the White Pikmin plucks off the leaves. If the leaves are burned off by Snapdragon Pikmin, they will not grow back ever again. An explosion from a Bomb Pikmin will result in all leaves and berries latched onto the grub-dog to be removed instantly, if the explosion doesn’t kill the Ivy Bulborb first.

Like with all bulborbs, Pikmin can be thrown at the Ivy Bulborb's eyes to make it flinch and spit out any Pikmin it may have in its mouth. Once it reaches half-health, the ivy on the creature's back will fall off, making the entire creature susceptible to attacks from any Pikmin but poisoning Pikmin that touch the loose ivy. A similar behavior is exhibited by Hairy Bulborbs.

In Overlord mode, the Ivy Bulborb can drop nightshade bombs. When a nightshade explodes, it will choke any Pikmin it catches in its explosion.

Olimar's notes

This species of Bulborb is a very close relative of the Bulbush. They are also a part of the same class as said grub-dog. The poison ivy that rests upon the Bulborb not only serves as a deterrent for predators, but also forms a symbiotic relationship with the creature. The ivy will sap energy from the Ivy Bulborb to continue functioning. This results in a more sluggish grub-dog.

Louie’s notes

The nightshades on this plant are delicious! Very… del…i…cio… zzzzzzz…

President’s notes

Maybe I’ll put some ivy on myself to deter predators on this ravenous planet! Actually, that’s a really stupid idea. I apologize.

Overlord’s thoughts

UGH! I can’t stop itching this rash I got from the poison ivy! Never touch an Ivy Bulborb unless you want to have rashes all over you!!

The Ivy Bulborb is a poisonous member of the grub-dog family and appears in Pikmin: The Escape. It is a very close relative of the Pink Ivy Bulborb. It has an appearance similar to most ordinary bulborbs, but it has green skin, beige eyes, and a yellow back covered in poison ivy. Because of its ivy, only White Pikmin can attack the creature's back, but any Pikmin type can attack its face. Once it reaches half-health, the ivy on the creature's back will fall off, making the entire creature susceptible to attacks from any Pikmin but poisoning Pikmin that touch the loose ivy. A similar behavior is exhibited by Hairy Bulborbs.

Olimar's notes

This creature has an amazing attribute that I have never before seen in other grub-dogs: it has ivy on its back. It hunts for prey by releasing a scent that attracts its favorite food, which is asteroid bugs. It then keeps still until a victim lands in its mouth, where it snaps its jaws shut like a Hocotatian Flytrap. After its meal, it sleeps until night, and at night, it repeats its tactic. Louie's notes

Inedible. Due to ivy, eating could cause fatal injury or death.
