Family Cactus

The Cactus is a species of cactus in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. They resemble real-world cacti, with a long, green body, and a few L-shaped protrusions that stick out of its sides like arms. The cactus is covered in dozens of white spikes that are razor-sharp. Very rarely, the cactus can be found with a small, pink rose on its top.

Cacti don’t damage Pikmin or enemies when touched. However, Pikmin that do come in contact with the plant will be flung back slightly and deflowered. Only Pikmin that are immune to blunt force can touch the plant without consequence. The cactus itself cannot be destroyed.

Notes

Olimar's notes

Cacti have a very sharp exterior. These prickly spikes are actually the leaves of the plant, grown and molded into a sharpened point. It serves as a good deterrent for creatures that want to eat this plant, as its insides are packed with nutrients. The inside of a cactus is completely hollow, as it stores large amounts of rainwater considering how dry and humid its environment is.

Louie's notes

Very prickly and harsh on the outside. But the inside flesh of this cacti is out of this world! Best eaten completely raw, gnaw around the outer layer of cacti, unless you want spiked leaves on your tongue.

President’s notes

This plant reminds me Hocotate! How it’s dry... and barren... and hot... and deserted... lots of sun. I think these are on Hocotate, probably in one of its dozens of deserts.

Overlord’s thoughts

One of the very few plants I cannot hold on my hands, because of how prickly they are. But they have a sweet inside. You could probably use that as a metaphor.

Caves Bonus Bash

Cacti appear in Pikspore, specifically in the Great Desert and Bonus Bash. They are large, round, spiky plants that are just slightly smaller than a Red Bulborb, and come in both green and brown colors. If a captain runs into it, it'll deal some damage to them. Pikmin that touch one will be depetaled and run around in a panic. If a Pikmin at leaf-stage maturity touches a cactus, it will die.
