The Great Desert is the sixth area in PikSpore. It appears to be a big, sandy desert with large rocks and cacti everywhere, but it is actually a series of sandboxes in an abandoned playground. It may be hot and barren through most of the area, but there is an oasis with water, grass and flowers. Go there to propagate your Pikmin!
