The Cluckasaur is a species of clooster appearing in Pikmin Evolution. It is essentially a giant monstrous chicken, with white feathers, a red beak and comb, and twitching yellow eyes. It is the adult form of the Little Clucka. It is found on its nest, sleeping over its clutch of eggs, with its rotund belly hanging out of the nest, just begging to be attacked by Pikmin. When it wakes up, it at first sees the Pikmin as nothing more than seeds for it to eat, so it stays on the nest and uses its beak to peck at them, eating one Pikmin at a time. When it sustains consistent damage, however, it realizes the Pikmin are a threat to its eggs, so it gets up and begins walking around the arena. While its feet don't crush Pikmin, it can grab up to five Pikmin to feed into its mouth.

There are two weakpoints on this creature: the belly and the head. The belly is easier to reach, but attacking the head distracts the creature and makes its attacks easier to dodge, though attacking either inflicts the same amount of damage. It is best to attack the front as the Cluckatucka will launch an endless volley of giant eggs from its backside. These eggs have the same size and properties as boulders but with the added effect of creating a pool of sticky yolk when it cracks open, making navigation trickier. Additionally, the Cluckasaur can perform a sweeping attack with its comb, which, while it doesn't kill Pikmin, it does push them back a great distance and possibly into the abyss below. The eggs in the nest will also prove to be a threat as they will endlessly produce a horde of Little Cluckas that constantly make their presence known until the mother is defeated. The Cluckasaur's wings, despite their small size, still give it limited flight abilities, and when the Cluckasaur's health reaches half, it will use its wings to take to the air. In this phase, the Cluckasaur will drop eggs from above, and some eggs can hatch into a Little Clucka, so the eggs' landing spots should be avoided at all times.

After a bit of airtime, the Cluckasaur will return to the ground, its bottom bouncing along the ground as it lands, crushing any Pikmin underneath. At this point, weighing it down by throwing enough Pikmin on its belly will weigh it down and cause it to flail about. Alternatively, Kelp Pikmin can be thrown onto the Cluckasaur's feet at any point to weigh it down prematurely. However, the best strategy is to freeze or soak the down of the creature with syrups: the former freezes off its feathers, rendering it unable to fly and even more susceptible to damage, and the latter weighing it down and making its attacks slower. Both are worthwhile strategies that can be used to take down this feathered fiend. When defeated, its body can be taken for rewards and its eggs can be broken open to reveal nectar and syrups. In addition, a piece of refuse will drop out of the nest. Overall, a truly burly bird that acts as a decently tough and dynamic miniboss.

Notes

Ivy's journal

This species of clooster breeds in the spring, with the males migrating up north while the females stay to nest. The females are the only species of bird to have a spermathecae, meaning they only need to mate once before being able to endlessly lay multiple clutches of fertilized eggs. While this does create a high birth rate for the species, due to the high mortality rate of its young sightings of the adults are quite rare in the wild.

Leni's recipe book

One of the most adaptable meats on the planet, you can do so much with this to make a great banquet. My personal favorite dish to make with this creature is to marinate the meat in some red Hanging Cocoberry syrup to give it a spicy kick, then bake the meat for five hours under the oven's broiler, which gives the skin a satisfying crunch.

Marvin's strategy guide

This piece of portly poultry hates getting its feathers ruffled, so you should give this bird the cold shoulder and freeze its wings.
