The Wollyblob is a species of amphituber appearing in Pikmin Rebirth. They are quite different compared to their relative, the Wollywog, in appearance and behavior, and while they do move by hopping, that is all that is shared between the two species. The Wollyblob has a smaller frame than the Wollywog and also has longer, more spindly legs. The Wollyblob also has noticeable green bumps on its back, giving it a mottled appearance, as well as a large, gaping mouth. The Wollyblob could be considered the Wollywog's equivalent for bodies of acid as they are mostly found in these areas and are immune to damage from both acid- and water-based hazards alike. The Wollyblob is quite territorial and will try to ward off threats with a very loud croak, which can cause panic in nearby Pikmin. If the threat remains unphased, the Wollyblob will then perform its main attack, wherein it drinks some of the surrounding acid and then spits it out, into the air, encased in bubbles. Unlike normal bubbles, these will be high in the air and slowly track the nearest target before popping overhead, creating a puddle of acid below. Due to this, the Wollyblob can be deceptively dangerous as it can quickly cause traversal of the area difficult. That is, unless Green Pikmin are available, as their immunity to acid makes them the best choice for fighting Wollyblobs as other Pikmin often can not reach them. As a last resort, a Wollyblob can be made to panic by flashing a bright light at its eyes. Additionally, the slender Wollyblob hates the cold, so using the icy Frost Pikmin, which are Cyan Pikmin infused with ice, to quickly kill the creature is a great choice as well.

Notes

Magdalene's journal

As I explore this alien planet, I notice how everyone else is managing themselves pretty well all things considered. Ivy likes to study quietly in the main research pod, Lenin and Azure work together directing the many alien beasts of this world for their own amusement, and Indy seems to get along with the Pikmin. As for me, I am the one who writes everything down. Though I do this mainly as an excuse to write down my thoughts... I may be the captain, but I feel so out of my element sometimes. I'm just a captain, I do nothing but tell people what to do, but now since everyone has a squad of Pikmin, they can give orders as well, so I'm just here doing nothing.

Azure's salvage logs

A Wollyblob's stomach can melt just about anything, so not only do you have a potential helper in the garden to clean trimmings, but also a garbage can, disposal, and potential friend.

Lenin's cooking tips

  • Calories per serving: 75
  • Serving size: 3 servings
  • Preparation time: 1 1/2 hours

A simple exotic classic: frog legs. Squirt some lemon juice onto the legs of the Wollyblob, fry in butter, and enjoy.

Ivy's biology logs

With the standard Wollywogs adapting a more aquatic lifestyle, the Wollyblob began to take up its niche as the terrestrial amphituber. It's replaced the membrane that allowed its relatives to survive outside and retain moisture with rough skin that lets it absorb carcinogens. This allows the Wollyblob to live in more hazardous locations and allows both species to live alongside each other without conflict. An interesting adaption if I say so myself.

Indy's strategy guide

The Wollyblob can be fought in the opposite way as the Wollywog; swarm it while it jumps, as the large army of Pikmin can easily cause this small fry to trip up. It also hates the cold, like all of us, kinda relatable in a way.
