Original Pikmin, also known as Light-Gray Pikmin, are a prehistoric Pikmin species introduced in Pikmin 2... Again?, and the last Pikmin type not including the Walking Golden Pikpik Carrot. They are discovered alongside their Onion post-game in the Welcome Forest, in a section not seen until after the story's end; there are many to be found there after destroying a previously camouflaged, indestructible dirt gate blocking the path to them. Original Pikmin resemble the three first Pikmin species but are light-gray with a pinkish tinge to differentiate them from both the Rock Pikmin and the White Pikmin, and have no unique physical features besides color due to being the first Pikmin species existing. They are one of the few Pikmin species to have an Onion, and at sunset, the Light-Gray Onion will merge with the Master Onion, resulting in its true final stage.

Original Pikmin have all average statistics but have a carry strength of 3, and when idle near an enemy, are intelligent enough to keep away from it, much like a leader would. They see a use in every area regarding accessing postgame content in that they are the only ones capable of destroying amethyst structures such as amethyst gates. They are also resistant to magic and any of its other hazard-based forms, and can neutralize magic in its basic form.

Notes

Olimar's notes

Original Pikmin / Pikminidae antiquus / Pikmin family. Being the first Pikmin type to ever exist, it is the ancestor of all Pikmin, and from it, other species that we know today came into existence. I thought then they were extinct, but it seems they were alive after all, just isolated in a place I never saw before, which was shocking. Due to the fact they are the first ever Pikmin, they never evolved any distinct color or other features, though they have some resistance to an unknown power.

Louie's notes

I wonder how they evolved from a parasitic species, or basically another one that targets objects as homes...

Hocotate Ship's notes

Well, if these Pikmin were the first to exist, the ancestor of all Pikmin, and are still alive, does that mean they are like living fossils? Or, how I could say, a living prehistoric plant-animal creature still alive today.
