The Berry Bloyster is a smaller subspecies of mollusking that lives exclusively aboveground. Its body is bright green with red and blue splotches, and its drooping gill bulb is cyan, giving this creature a rather colorful appearance. The Berry Bloyster feeds on the berries of Burgeoning Spiderwort plants, using its long feeding tentacles to pluck the berries off of the plant. Its many tentacles are laden with toxins that poison Pikmin making contact with them. While it cannot eat Pikmin, it can cause many of them to suffocate. If attacked, the Berry Bloyster will shake Pikmin off and flee to the nearest body of water, where it can rest. When killed, it drops two to four berries of random color and its gill bulb.

The Berry Bloyster appears in Pikmin: Wide World as a small, passive mollusking that eats spiderwort berries. There exist six types, each corresponding to a type of spray: ultra-spicy, ultra-bitter, ultra-toxic, ultra-hot, ultra-minty, and ultra-sweet. Each type is only found near its corresponding spiderwort: ultra-spicy and ultra-bitter Berry Bloysters are only found near Burgeoning Spiderworts that, respectively, bear ultra-spicy berries and ultra-bitter berries; ultra-toxic Berry Bloysters are found only near Spiny Spiderworts, which bear only ultra-toxic berries; finally, ultra-hot, ultra-minty, and ultra-sweet Berry Bloysters are only found near Sunset Spiderworts that, respectively, bear ultra-hot, ultra-minty, and ultra-sweet berries. Berry Bloysters can be found idly wandering an area around their respective spiderwort, either on dry land or in water, moving slowly and taking occasional pauses, never straying too far away from the plant. When on land, they leave behind a short-lasting slime trail that matches their color. Its tail occasionally sways or twitches. Berry Bloysters care not for Pikmin or leaders and are quite oblivious of their presence, being only interested in spiderwort berries of their respective type, which they feed upon using a single, long, slender tongue to pull them into their mouth. Berry Bloysters will feed upon any berries of their specific type in their vicinity, no matter if they are still on the plant or on the ground, making them similar to most whiskerpillars in that respect. A Berry Bloyster constantly secretes the juices of the berries it feeds upon through its porous, slimy skin, and to defend itself, a Berry Bloyster may release a short-lasting cloud of berry juice around itself. Depending on the berry's type, this defense mechanism may affect Pikmin, leaders, and even enemies.
Berry Bloysters are small, stocky, colorful molluskings. Each of the six types has striking hues and a tail-bulb that matches the color and appearance of the berries on which they feed. Each Berry Bloyster possesses the typical mollusking physiology, having a sluglike appearance with a slimy body and a plant-like tail towards its backside. It possesses a high hump, and its body tapers to an edge at its flattest points. Its small mouth is just large enough for the berries it eats to fit into, and its long, slender tongue matches the color of its tail-bulb. Its short eyestalks support small, black eyes, and its eyestalks have rims matching the color of the stem of the spiderwort it feeds from. Across its body are dark patches that are unique to each Berry Bloyster but retain the same general shape, with no other markings besides that being present. The tail of a Berry Bloyster resembles a mediocre imitation of the spiderwort it feeds from, and its tail-bulb greatly resembles the specific berry its diet consists of. The bodies of ultra-hot Berry Bloysters are perpetually cloaked in flames due to the ultra-hot berry's combustible nature.
Although a Berry Bloyster does not and will not eat Pikmin or leaders, they can still be beneficial or detrimental depending on their type. Even while idle, they can be dangerous due to their body secreting berry juice, which produces the effects of that specific berry's spray. Physical contact with a Berry Bloyster or a mist cloud it produces will affect Pikmin, leaders, and even enemies in a way a certain spray normally would: ultra-spicy temporarily powers up Pikmin but reduces their maturity stage by one, if possible, and makes them prone to deserting their group; ultra-bitter temporarily causes most enemies to refuse to swallow affected Pikmin and leaders until either enough time has passed or an enemy has attempted to swallow them; ultra-toxic spray harms all except leaders, White Pikmin, larger enemies, and enemies that utilize poison; ultra-hot spray harms all but Red Pikmin, most enemies, such as ones that utilize fire, and leaders that have the Scorch Guard equipped; ultra-minty spray gradually heals leaders exposed to it and repels some enemies; lastly, ultra-sweet spray attracts most varieties of nearby enemies to its location. A Berry Bloyster can be attacked from any portion of its body, although its tail-bulb is the safest and most effective target not only because it does not secrete berry juice, but because attacking the gill-bulb inflicts additional damage. Attacking the gill-bulb is important because Berry Bloysters are particularly resilient creatures for their size. Throwing Pikmin at the gill-bulb is not necessary, as Pikmin instinctively know to jump up at or onto it. Purple Pikmin can be made to pound on one's back to inflict decent damage. They violently shake attackers off of themselves as an alternate method of defense. Upon death, a Berry Bloyster will cough up between two to three berries of its respective type, and then stiffen up and shrink considerably, adopting a dried and shriveled appearance. At this point, it ceases secreting berry juice and can be carried by its tail-bulb by any Pikmin type. Aboveground, its remains can be taken to either the Dolphin Lander to receive 
× 2 and the equivalent of four berry's-worth of juice, for use in creating a complete spray dose, or the Master Onion to receive three Pikmin seeds. Underground, its remains can be taken to the Lander Pod to either receive × 2 and four berry's-worth of juice or be stored to later gain three Pikmin seeds of a chosen discovered main type from the Master Onion, but only if the cave is exited using an escape geyser.

- "Each of the six subspecies of berry bloyster has wildly different colors and all feed on very specific spiderwort berries, yet they all possess the same shape, size, and behaviors. It lives its entire life scouring PNF-404 for spiderworts that bear the berries of its preference, obsessively keeping watch over the plant once it finds one, feeding off the spiderwort until either it or the plant dies. The reason for its tail and tail-bulb respectively resembling the spiderwort it feeds from and the berries it feeds on is a mystery, although one theory is that perhaps spiderworts are at least somewhat sentient and find comfort in detecting other spiderworts. After first hatching, the berry bloyster is off-white in color, with the slightest hint of color to its skin. This coloration, as well as its appetite for the berry it shares its color with, becomes increasingly more intense the older it becomes. All through its life, the berry bloyster is able to utilize the juice from the berries it consumes to defend itself."

In Pikmin X: Deep Freeze, the Berry Bloyster is about as large as a Toady Bloyster. It more closely resembles that creature's incarnation in Pikmin 3 and thus has an extendable tongue with several smaller ones branching off the tip, which it uses to pluck berries off of Burgeoning Spiderworts and eat them. A side effect of its diet causes the Berry Bloyster to concentrate chemicals from the berries into its skin, allowing it to emit poisonous gas while submerged in water. This makes it important to catch it while it is on land so that it cannot shield itself using poison. When Pikmin are in front of it, the Berry Bloyster will wave its tongue around to poison them as well, but does not eat them.
