Prior to their discovery, Obsidian Candypop Buds were typical candypop buds that were affected by parasites, turning them black and changing their properties.

Notes

Olimar's notes

Candypop buds come in a variety of colors, and this one's petals are obsidian-colored. Other candypops include crimson, dandelion, teal, vanilla, and lavender.

Louie's notes

Sizzle with bulborb meat for excellent taste. Edible despite its black coloration being considered to be related to parasitism and thus unable to be eaten.

The Void Candypop Bud is the candypop bud in Pikmin I that produces Black Pikmin. Like the Black Pikmin's leaf, bud, or flower, it has parts that are torn up.

Notes

Olimar's notes

This peculiar member of the candypop family has evolved in deserts, just like the Pikmin it produces, the Black Pikmin. It has evolved torn-up petals that create a scent, combined with its central pistil's scent, that makes it seem to be an unmistakable nourishment source... Or at least that is what its prey thinks.

Louie's notes

This flower can cause constipation really easily. Try not to eat it, or at least not in great quantities too quickly.

This odd flower was of the plant life we discovered in a drenched cavern. Despite its unassuring appearance, the Pikmin were tempted to be tossed in. When I did just that, a new and mysterious race of Pikmin sprouted from the ground! They were Black Pikmin.
