Obsidian Candypop Buds appear in Pikmin 5. They can be used to convert up to five Pikmin into Black Pikmin before wilting away. Olimar initially discovered candypop buds in the year 3910, and four years later, in 3914, he discovered Obsidian Candypop Buds and the Pikmin they produce. Prior to their discovery, Obsidian Candypop Buds were typical candypop buds that were affected by parasites, turning them black and changing their properties.
Notes

Louie's notes
- “Sizzle with bulborb meat for excellent taste. Edible despite its black coloration being considered to be related to parasitism and thus unable to be eaten.”
